El Alacrán

2025
Spray and acrylic mural
12' x 13'

My contribution to the Despierta Verano 2025 Festival in Caguas. I decided to pay a small tribute to Félix Cordero, dear neighbor and artist from Cagüeño, integrating him into my final proposal. During previous years, Felix passed daily through the work area; he stopped to talk, observe and share with us from his genuine curiosity and affection for art.

Like him, much of our Puerto Rican population is entering a stage of greater vulnerability, and they deserve our attention, memory and respect. This piece contains elements deeply connected to my childhood and my roots: corduroy, acerola, quenepa, jobos and currants were fruits that grew in my grandparents' yards. "El Alacrán" not only honors Don Félix, but also invites us to reflect on the intersections between past and present, and the power of memory as resistance.
